Some Additional Affiliate Marketing Pointers
Do Not Use Banner Ads
People have learned to avoid banner ads and studies have proven there is a much lower conversion rate for banner ads when compared to text-based links that are relevant to the content in which they are placed.
You want your visitors to be ready to buy when they click your links. After clicking on a banner ad, people already have the mindset that they're going to have something pitched to them. They've already put up the "I don't want to be sold to" barrier. Don't make your job any harder than it already is, avoid anything that will cause visitors to be on their guards.
Build trust and credibility with your readers.
Provide valuable content that generates quality traffic. Don't splash your website with banner ads and a ton of Pay Per Click advertising (Google Adsense is an example). This reduces your credibility and creates the "I'm being sold to" mindset in your visitors.
Let your merchant's do their job and you can focus on yours - getting visitors to click your affiliate links with an open, ready-to-buy, attitude.
Use email marketing to explode your affiliate sales
Capture his or her name and email address to maximize the profit potential of each visitor.
With email marketing, you have direct access to a group of qualified prospects. You have the ability to send as much information to your mailing list as you want; this gives you the opportunity to include affiliate links in some of the emails to skyrocket your sales.
