Getting People To Sign Up To Your Mailing List

The number one way to get someone to physically sign up for your mailing list is to use a squeeze page (or 'namesqueeze' page). The whole purpose of this page is, as you can guess, to capture a visitor's name and email address.

The squeeze page should be short and to the point. You don't want a sales letter here, just some information about what the visitor is signing up for, and that's it.

Now, not everyone that lands on your squeeze page is going to want to sign up for your newsletter so it's a good idea to add incentives for him or her to do so. Offering a free ebook, report, or course to anyone that subscribes is a common method used for increasing the number of signups.

Some marketers will use a squeeze page as a gateway to their main website. Any visitor will need to provide their name and email address in order to continue to the main site.

This technique can be effective in some cases but should be tested thoroughly to ensure you're not turning too many people away from your website.

You should also test several versions of your squeeze page to find the highest converting page. A good squeeze page can convert as much as 40-50% of visitors.

Once you have your squeeze page set up, you will need to send traffic to the page to collect signups. There are a number of methods used to generate traffic, which are discussed in the Traffic Generation section.
